Here's a look at our second piece in the upcoming year-end collection. Rodart, our SD16 x Unoa Zero Marion hybrid models this delicate ensemble of cream chantilly lace over blush bemsilk lining. This two piece set consists of a mini dress and detachable long flowy skirt with crushed velvet ribbon waist. We're still working on a possible pair of knickers to go with this set.

The outer skirt allows for a show of long, sexy legs. ;)

I'm definitely smitten by the romance of this gorgeous lace fabric, and I hope you'll find it a perfect fit for your little princesses, too.

frost

We've finally completed this idea using the frost coloured silk shantung and dusty pink ribbon. There were many designs I had sketched out for the bodice, but we decided to try some pintucks for the bodice and my mother has sewn them in beautifully. It's sized to fit a Volks SDGr girl body, and I think this could be a one-off. I usually don't buy very much materials (headdesk) and there's only enough ribbons for two of these dresses, so this next one I'm wondering if I should make a different bodice to fit an SD16 girl. Decisions, decisions...

The dress comes with a simple tulle underskirt and soft blue cotton gathered knickers. I am definitely itching to add some appliques/embroidery to the bodice, but perhaps I can try it for the back since it's just plain tulle and elastic.

GETTING READY FOR WINTER

From the sunny island of Singapore, it may seem hard to comprehend the season of winter since our yearly season has always been hot or hot and wet. Nonetheless, the excitement of winter does not escape our notice as international fashion boutiques bring in their autumn/winter collections onto their racks. Plus most of our offices and malls tend to get quite cold with hardworking air conditioning so that gives us an excuse to shop autumn winter collections that may seem insane to wear in our warm tropical weather. I am also slowly warming up to the designs of autumn winter collections and find we should introduce more of them in our dolly line.

I've always appreciated spring summer collections, both on the runways as well as shopping for my own wardrobe, so naturally when I design clothes for our girls, I would veer more towards spring summer silhouettes and fabrics. I would say it's mostly for the colour palettes and pretty fabric like lace, florals and vibrant colours. Autumn winter collections always feel dull to me, with their dark smoky colour palettes and heavy fabric. However, I have found we can still create girlish pieces that work for this season! (how slow!)

Anyway, the picture above of Chantae, our Bluefairy Tinyfairy Sarang, features her in our palace blue tweed dress, which I find works for all seasons. This got me inspired to try coming up with a coat design for our dolly girls this year end. Hopefully it will come to fruition! I've got a lovely delustered satin in rose, a darker nude, in mind for this coat project, and possibly attempt some embellishments on it as well. Will post sketches and wip soon, but first we need to get our main pieces ready, which will be dresses in frost blue and shell pink. ^^=

Full drive ahead

It's a rainy Saturday today, and I'm glad I planned to stay home. I have MBLAQ's [Cry], [Y] and [Stay] on replay (they're one of the reasons I haven't been working fast enough, their variety shows just occupy so much of my spare time since I only started watching their things this year yikes).

Anyway, back to dolly work! :) Here's a look at limited edition pleated skirts we made:


They'll be limited to 2 pieces each, for SD and MSD size for the beige midi skirts. The silver lamé somewhat-mini skirts would have 3 pieces per size. They only come in such limited quantity because we ran out of fabric. :p We made them from human tops, actually. I found them in stores and bought them for the fabric. Oops.

And another dress design in our upcoming collection features colourful birds on black chiffon:

This image shows our prototype design with the M-curved bust. It will be sold in a one-of-a-kind set with sparkle thigh-high socks and a bejewelled felt collar. I'm still figuring out how bejeweled the collar ought to be without being overdone. *cracks brain*

We would like to have the dress go with sparkle socks, but materials only allow perhaps 2 sets per size. I think this upcoming collection, we'll most probably be trying to hold sales on the blog or on flickr. :) Stay tuned for more work-in-progress talk!

Happy New Year!

It's the year 2013~ A whole new year has arrived and I can't wait to create more new things! It's unfortunate that the blog didn't get updated as often as I'd like, but I hope to put in more entries this year. :)

Here's a look at a new accessory in the making!

I had ordered some hand-crafted clay macarons from AiClay last year (for both SD and MSD sizes that are necklace charm sized). She had adorable macaron-themed jewelry for humans, as well as loose pieces packaged in little boxes for doll props. They just looked perfect for this little accessory project of mine that was inspired by delicious and luxurious Japanese jewelry brand Q-Pot.

These macaron charms were originally supposed to adorn necklaces on their own, with rhinestone accents. However, they were so dainty, the weight of the clasp would pull the necklace back on the doll's neck. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't make anything suitable with these sweet charms, so had to keep them while I figure out what else I can do to incorporate them into.

Finally last month, I came across some tiny gold eiffel tower charms that would work perfectly with the macarons! After all, these sweets originated from France, so how apt! :D Maname, my SD girl, is modeling the first necklace made. The macaron is actually an MSD sized one because I found the SD one was still a little too large for a dainty necklace project. Each necklace will have a rhinestone embellished macaron (very minimal, just 2, since they're so small), a gold eiffel tower charm and a swarovski bicone. They come in three combinations, with pink, lavender and mint coloured macarons.

Here are my materials...

The pink macaron would be paired with a mint alabaster AB swarovski bicone; the lavender with rose alabaster swarovski, while the mind macaron will go with a clear AB swarovski bicone crystal. I'm in love with swarovski crystals. *_* My recent trip to KL brought me five new colours of hot-fix swarovski crystals that I can't wait to embellish clothes and shoes with!

Here are some of the new charms and things I recently acquired. Mucho ouch to my wallet, but I just cannot resist collecting all these things that sparkle...

The ribbon charms were mainly for embellishing doll shoes. I was having my incoming Unon girl in mind with her four pairs of heels. <3 However, only the one huge ribbon looked like it was a suitable size, and even so, it looked best on a pair of MSD flats. Haha... The other smaller ribbons didn't work, so I guess I need to figure out more projects that I can use them on! The pearly white flowers would be perfect for nice pearly patterns on clothes. Designer wear are huge inspirations. <3

I even broke down and bought a pair of Fluffy Yarn leggings in peach from Uniqlo because I'd like to see if we can make cardigans for SD girls like Gelato Pique's Moco Moco clothing. *-* I've been procrastinating a little too much for comfort in 2012. Let's hope I regain my 'fire' this year!

Upcoming sweaters

A very delayed announcement! We have been invited by lovely Lelahel of Petite Precieuse to sell some of our pieces on their Euro/international doll shopping platform. :) We currently have three exclusive pieces with them, all SD sizes, and one of them would be made a special giveaway at the Ldoll event in France that is happening this weekend. <3


Many apologies for the lack of updates! I have succumbed to the life of a couch potato for the past month and feeling rather guilty for neglecting living a life properly. :p I blame Korean entertainment for making me recline in my chair facing a screen watching their dramas and variety shows after work and before heading off to bed. Time to kick this bad habit of passive living (bit by bit). I will still catch Joo Ji Hoon's [Five Fingers] and Song Joong Ki's [Innocent Man], though. Two of my favourite male actors in such epic dramas (though Five Fingers is beginning to drag for me, do not like petty men who can't move on >_>).

In addition, our in-house seamstress have been busy with night classes on weekdays, so there has been a delay in releasing new pieces.


Anyway, procrastination aside, I finally came up with a sweater style that could go with the cream pleated skorts my mother made some time ago. It's an off-white soft knit sweater with lace shoulders that I would like to embellish with beads and pearls. The above is a look at one of the designs I'm contemplating.

I'm torn between doing the diamond patterned beaded look with pearl accents in the middle, or just sewing on white pearls throughout the front. I do adore the latest fashion trends of heavily beaded patterned clothing pieces and am dying to try some for the dolls, so we'll see how things go. :) I am finally excited about creating again and am feeling rather thankful that my life is now going to pick up from where it got left off again.

Another issue that's been bothering me is how my dolls have kind of lost their personalities over the years. I do want them to have their own personalities and styles and I may take more photos of them for who they are, but that would take some time, I guess. Just need to stop being so lazy and just focus on the hobby more. Why do I get so distracted so easily... -_-
